Doreen May Adams was born May 7, 1933 in West Des Moines, Iowa the daughter of Roy and Loretta (Davenport) Routson.
Doreen was raised in West Des Moines and graduated from Valley High School. She was united in marriage to Jack Bertrand and to this union three children were born: Jackie, Cathie and Rick. Doreen later married Rainey Adams. She lived most of her life in the Des Moines area until moving to Pleasantville 20 years ago. Doreen worked as a legal secretary in the early days, and eventually retired as a stenographer from the Principal Financial Group.
Doreen was an avid reader, having read thousands of books throughout her life. Her greatest joy was her family; she adored her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered as a feisty and strong-willed redhead with a soft and loving heart.
Doreen passed away on Friday, March 5, 2010 at the Taylor House, in Des Moines, at the age of 76 years, 9 months and 26 days.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Billy Routson; son, Rick Bertrand; husband, Rainey Adams and her ex-husband, Jack Bertrand.
Those left to honor her memory include two daughters, Jackie Manson (David) of Norwalk and Cathie Dawson (Gene) of Pleasantville; daughter-in-law, Karen Bertrand of Des Moines, 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
