Earl Dale Morgan

November 16, 1917 - April 19, 2015

Earl Dale Morgan was born November 16, 1917 in Knoxville, Iowa the son of Clyde and Esta (Core) Morgan. He graduated from Knoxville High School with the class of 1936. Following high school, Earl worked for Stubby Wagner at United Grocery and was an electrician for the Knoxville Raceway. On June 23, 1937 he was united in marriage to Allie Margeurite Morgan. During WWII Earl tried to enlist but was not accepted for health reasons, so he and Margeurite moved to Arcadia, California to help with the war effort. Earl worked in a shipyard and was an Air Warden. Following the war, the couple returned to Knoxville to raise their family. Earl, along with Clyde and J.C. Brubaker operated the Knoxville Lumber Company for many years. In the late sixties Earl left the lumber company to start Morgan Cabinet & Supply. He and Marguerite operated their business until retirement, having remodeled hundreds of homes through the years. Earl also built every home he and his family lived in. In his spare time, Earl enjoyed fishing, especially for Walleye. The family took many summer fishing trips to Canada while the kids were growing up. He was also an avid bowler and had competed in several national tournaments. Earl also loved nature; he watched and fed birds and built birdhouses. He also enjoyed gardening. Earl passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at his home at the age of 97 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, J.P.; wife; brother, Paul and his son-in-law, Jim Hamilton. Those left to cherish Earl’s memory include his daughters: Evelyn Morgan of West Des Moines and Marsha Lee of Knoxville; daughter-in-law, Suzy Morgan of Knoxville; four grandchildren: Drew and Natalie Morgan, Diana (Ross) Dennison and Brian Lee; three great-grandchildren: Branden and Ryan Lee and William Dennison; cousin, Brenton (Shirley) Trabert of Knoxville and many other family members and friends. Graveside Funeral Service Graceland Cemetery – Knoxville, Iowa Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Swann Juline, officiating In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Marion County Humane society or to the Knoxville Fire and Rescue Units. Visitation will begin after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
