Irene Frances Bellon was born July 18, 1931 in Tut Hill, South Dakota the daughter of Telford and Mary (Everhart) Williams.
She was raised in Wayne County and on October 31, 1947 she was united in marriage to Marlin Bellon in Corydon, Iowa. The couple would later move to Marion County where Irene would reside the rest of her life. Through the years, Irene had worked at the Overall Factory, Stubby Wagner’s Grocery, Griffin Nursing Center, Westridge Nursing Home and provided home care. In later years, Irene obtained her CNA and worked for the Knoxville V.A. Medical Center, retiring in 1992.
Irene was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed quilting, embroidery and sewing by hand. In her retirement years, she also enjoyed traveling – especially to visit her brother in Kansas and her uncle in California. The most important part of Irene’s life was her family and she cherished her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Irene passed away on Monday, May 26, 2014 at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital at the age of 82 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Patricia Ann and a brother, Kenneth Williams.
Those left to honor her memory include her children: Ron Bellon of Lovilia, Randy (Deb) Bellon of Knoxville, Mike (Nina) Bellon of Knoxville, Pat (Arnold) Uitermarkt of Otley, Steve Bellon of Knoxville, Dee Brown of Knoxville and Mary Beth Bellon of Knoxville; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings: Donnie Williams of Wheeler, Kansas, Roberta Allen of Allerton, Iowa, Richie Williams of Chariton and Dave Williams of Corydon and many other family members and friends.
