Thelma Jane McDanolds

March 6, 1920 - September 3, 2014

Thelma Jane McDanolds was born March 6, 1920 in Mystic, Iowa, the daughter of Sanford Marion Taylor and Madge Mae (Inskeep) Taylor. She was raised in the Mystic area and graduated from Mystic High School in 1937. On September 23, 1937 Thelma was united in marriage to Charles McDanolds. The couple lived in the Mystic and Centerville areas until moving to their farm near Mystic in 1952. Thelma was a faithful member of the Mystic United Methodist Church for years and was a 4-H leader. She was a devoted farm wife and through the years Thelma had also worked for the extension office and was the first cashier at the J&K Market. She raised a large garden every year and canned for the winter months. Thelma was a tireless worker and her motto was, “why walk if you can run”. Thelma passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital at the age of 94 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Charles in 1991; brother, Dell Taylor; sister, Frances Young; granddaughter, Megan Inskeep; great-granddaughter, Lydia Cox and her granddaughter in law, Ginger Condra. Those left to honor Thelma’s memory include her children: Judith Condra (Duane) of Oakgrove, Missouri, Nancy Walker (Joe) of Mentone, California, Cathy Risher (Ron) of Manchester, Missouri and Kim Inskeep (Steve) of Knoxville; 10 grandchildren: Steve Condra, Carol & Michael Lusby, Kellee Condra, Doug & Regina Adams, Dee Ann & Jim Newkirk, Suzie Risher, Dyan & Doug Grooms, Robin & John Mohler, Shawn & Kristi Inskeep, and Jason Inskeep; 21 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren; her brother, Raymond (Jerry) Taylor of Peoria, Illinois and many other family members and friends.
