Jeannie Mae Ramirez was born October 18, 1949 in Prole, Iowa the daughter of Charles “Chod” Robbins, Jr. and Mary Darlene (Boatwright) Robbins.
Jeannie attended Norwalk High School where she played on their basketball team, finishing 4th in the state championship. She graduated from Indianola High School with the Class of 1967. As a young woman she began her working career at Look Magazine. She always throughout her lifetime had a tenacious work ethic. Working hard to provide well, at a time during her life, she held up to 3 jobs. But usually worked 2 and even found time while being a mother to attend night school. Jeannie worked as a legal secretary for the Iowa Department of Education, retiring in 2006. She also worked for Contract Land Staff as a title supervisor, retiring from that position in 2016. Her goal of providing for her children and grandchildren was achieved and surpassed. By example she instilled the value of education and a strong work ethic into all of her family.
In her spare time, Jeannie enjoyed shopping, reading, yardwork and tending to her garden; and puzzles, cards and dominos. Family was first and foremost. Dinners out with her children and grandchildren were a favorite. She always had an open door. Jeannie loved spending time with her parents and children. Jeannie’s role as a caregiver extended from her parents, children and grandchildren to her siblings and friends. She absolutely cherished her eight grandchildren and she was fiercely supportive of all her family.
