John Epp Riemersma was born February 2, 1948 in Des Moines, Iowa the son of Epp and Nellie (DeJong) Riemersma.

He was raised in Tracy, Iowa and graduated from Twin Cedars High School in 1966. John then attended community college, transferring to Northeast Missouri State University (Truman State), and graduating with a Bachelor’s degree. He worked on the family farm, in Tracy, until taking a job with Iowa Power & Light on August 16, 1972. He was an electrical lineman until his retirement in October 2006. He has lived on the family farm since 1957.

John was a member of the IBEW and a life member of the NRA, Amateur Trap Shooting Association and Iowa State Trapshooting Association. Trap shooting was truly a passion for John and he also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

John passed away Saturday, August 15, 2026 at Accura of Knoxville at the age of 78 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Those left to honor John’s memory include his sister, Bertha Annie Crook; nephew, Karl Epp (Robin) Kloster and their son, Kaden Epp; niece, Bertina (Jim) Barclay and their children: Cooper and Lillian and many other family members and friends.

John donated his body to science and private family services will be held at a later date.
