MarJean Sutter was born January 20, 1935 in Huxley, Iowa the daughter of Jerome and Carrie Orella (Williams) Hill.

MarJean graduated from Huxley in 1952 and then worked at State Auto Insurance in Des Moines for several years. On December 13, 1958, she was united in marriage to Donald Larry Sutter in Huxley, Iowa. To this union three children: David, Kenneth and Deanna were born. The couple lived in Polk City before moving to a farm near Runnells, Iowa and eventually establishing Sutter Farms in Pleasantville in 1963. MarJean quickly became the quintessential farm wife, working alongside Don. The couple were very active during the farm crisis of the 1980’s. They made many trips to Washington, DC and volunteered in farm groups until the 1990’s.

In her spare time, MarJean enjoyed listening to talk radio and country and western music, especially Willie Nelson. Her greatest joy was family, and MarJean will be remembered as dedicated to her family and their farm.

MarJean passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at her home at the age of 90 years.

In addition to her parents, MarJean was preceded in death by her son, David; husband, Don and siblings: Wes, Izetta (Herb) Bennett, Mayola (Leo) Smith and Joan (Toche) Terrones.

Those left to cherish MarJean’s memory include her son, Kenny (Leanne) Sutter; daughter, Deanna (Rick) Rood; grandchildren: Tyler (Megan), Jacob (Kelsey), Cody (Kayla) and Logan (Jenna); great-grandchildren: Bella, Brystol and Braylon; Oakley, Maverick and Tragen and Hunter and Sawyer, Baby Rood due in January, sister-in-law, Audie Hill, and many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
