Oren Eugene Shobe was born July 21, 1934 in Glenwood, Missouri the son of Virgil and Lena (Ryals) Shobe.

He was raised in the Harvey, Iowa and graduated from Knoxville High School. As a young man he worked for the railroad. On July 27, 1957 Oren was united in marriage to Shirley Imogene Allen. Oren served in the United States Navy for 4 years and after his honorable discharge, he and Shirley returned to Harvey. He worked in the security office at Pella Corp, 3M and the Knoxville V.A. Medical Center prior to retirement.

Oren was a good boxer in the Navy, and offered to show many people his skills throughout life. He enjoyed raising dogs and pigs and gardening. Mushroom hunting was a favorite pastime, as was making his famous homemade ice cream.

Oren passed away Friday, August 16, 2024 at West Ridge Specialty Care, in Knoxville, at the age of 90 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley; son, Robert; daughter, Rhonda and brother, Larry.

Those left to honor Oren’s memory include his son, Rodney Shobe (Paula) of Tama; grandchildren, Nate and Noah and many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
