Roberta Lou Worthington was born August 17, 1936 in rural Marion County, Iowa the daughter of Charles Albert Simmons and Myrtle May (Beaver) Simmons.

She was raised in the Attica and Bussey areas. In 1958 Roberta was united in marriage to Eddie Lawrence Worthington. The couple made their home in Des Moines, Iowa. Following Eddie’s passing in 2006, Roberta moved to Knoxville. She adored her grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Roberta passed away Monday, June 8, 2026 at West Ridge Nursing & Rehab, in Knoxville, at the age of 89 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eddie; daughter, Cindy in infancy; son, Bob; and several siblings.

Those left to mourn Roberta’s passing include her children: Jerry Behrens, Ed Worthington and Teresa Eads-Hammond; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; siblings: Donna Savoy, Pam Pettyjohn, Kenneth Simmons, Harold Simmons and Norman Simmons and many other family members and friends.
